Jigsaw Body Mechanics is a fitness business that focuses on providing a healthy environment based around the progression of post-surgical and post-physiotherapy exercise programming with the expected goal of returning clients to mainstream exercise in a mainstream exercise facility. We also specialise in training clients that suffer from conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Temporal Mandibular Joint Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue and chemotherapy recovery programs.
We have an abundance of experience and the relative expertise in helping people of special populations and have a strong referral system in place with GP’s, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Dentists and a growing number of other allied health professionals.
Jigsaw Body Mechanics is a friendly environment that allows clients of varying levels of mobility and/or strength to reach their goals and progress their fitness to a point that has a positive impact on their health and well being.
Paul has been a remedial massage therapist and Pre-Pilates instructor for 16years as well as being a fitness professional for the last 14 years. Through his in-depth anatomy knowledge and his ability to communicate to people of all levels he has built a solid reputation in Canberra as being a specialist of helping the people no-one else could help.
“Movement is exercise, it shouldn’t hurt, and you shouldn’t be afraid of it.”Paul spent two years as a live in carer in the UK and worked with a Trevor Jones, a quadriplegic, who was the Navy helicopter pilot that rescued Richard Branson from the Irish sea after his failed attempt to balloon around the world. Trevor was living proof of the power of movement and making the most of what you have. After his accident he was the first Quadriplegic to fly a microlight solo across the English channel and if that wasn’t enough he then circumnavigated Great Britain in a catamaran!Working as a trainer he has developed athletes such as Canberra’s own BMX/Mountain bike world champion, Caroline Buchanan. Paul did all of Caroline’s training preparing her for her entry into the Academy of Sport program that propelled her career skyward.For 8 years Paul was part of the management team at Elite Physique, one of Canberra’s premier gyms. Among his many accolades he accomplished in his time at Elite he was been an integral part of the return of powerlifting within Canberra initiating well known competitions like ‘Battle of the Gyms’. His diagnostic eye with lifting technique is sought after by personal trainers in Canberra, many of who refer their clients for assessment.
In early 2014 Paul opened Jigsaw Body Mechanics. He teaches mat work Pilates, Retribution and incorporates the use of Pilates reformers with resistance exercise to create an enjoyable, challenging routines that not only develops your core strength, balance and control but tests your strength and power as well.
Kynan is a Diploma of Fitness trainer and has focused his studies and experiences around training special populations. He has delivered ‘Fall Prevention’ and ‘Safer Back’ programs and has spent large amounts of time working alongside Physiotherapists and thus has a great understanding of the programs they construct.
Kynan has been working at Jigsaw since we opened and is an invaluable part of the team!
