by Robert Issell – President of the Phillip Business Community
One of the big issues facing business owners in Phillip is Parking. Many business owners have said, “Public
Servants that work in Woden arrive early in the morning, park their cars in the limited all day parking zones and also private parking spaces. They do not care what effect it then has on the Phillip Business Community.” The problem starts by the parking issues in the Woden Business area and then flows over to the Phillip Business District.
Business operators are frustrated by this issue and have been suffering from this problem for several years now. They are frustrated and do not know how to solve this issue.
Meeting to discuss Parking Issues – 9am Tuesday 15th September at our Office located at Level 1 – 61 Dundas Court, Phillip
Following Andrew Barr’s visit to Phillip last week and showing a keen interest in solving some of our obvious and immediate problems has taken the following action. He has asked Gary Rake, Deputy Director-General & Parking Coordinator-General in the ACT Government to consult with us regarding our issues. Gary sent me the following message, “I work within the ACT Government and one of my roles is to help co-ordinate the government response to parking problems. The Chief Minister has asked me to make contact with you and to see what I can do to help improve parking management in Phillip. I understand that you raised some issues during the Chief Minister’s session Woden this week. I would be more than happy to come out to meet with you and other interested business owners at a time that is convenient for you.”
Parking meters may be proposed for Phillip as a way to solve some of our parking issues. If you have concerns about this issue then you have a chance to participate.
